Athron was there at the beginning when The Orchard was built to support both local and international artists and we are proud to have him play here regularly.
After establishing himself as a solo performer in Sydney over a decade ago, Athron released a full-length album ‘Taming Butterflies’ before escaping to the island of Bali in Indonesia and despite a lifetime of changing backgrounds, his foreground focus remained the same; music, writing, gigging.
Building on his use of loop pedals to create multiple vocal harmonies and layered guitars, Athron quickly won over audiences, performing with touring artists such as Michael Franti, bringing vocals to various events such as Bali’s famous high season Ku De Ta day party and collaborative as well as individual performances at The Orchard.
Touring throughout SE Asia and the USA has kept the travel bug satisfied and in the space between, he both wrote and successfully crowd-funded his second album, ‘Escape into Fiction’.
‘Escape into Fiction’ plays out a mixed bag of sounds that chime out acoustic soul from the bedroom, right through to heavy rock grooves and dark pop melodies. It is a journey as varied as Athron’s own life experiences: a single narrative thick with variety and diversity.
Currently playing over 200 shows a year, Athron has emerged as a solo artist with a style that is both unique and captivating to the soul, producing a personal sound that leaves a lasting impression.
