A prolific and extraordinaryily influential artist, Aray Daulay tragically passed away in September 2018. He is constantly remembered by all who were lucky enough to have know him, played with him, or were fortunate enough to see him perform live.
At The Orchard his memory is permanently memorialised on the chalked lyrics lovingly written into the brickwork on the stage on which all artists must perform in front of.
I don't want to waste my time
for this last chance of mine
I don't want to feel regret
when I look in your eyes
and I know
You're my angel from heaven
I can feel it, sent only for me
You're my angel from heaven
I can feel it, sent only for me
I know I broke your heart
too many things I have done
I'm trying to make it up to you
So when you look in my eyes
you will know
I'll be your angel from heaven
you will feel it, I'll show you
I'll be your angel from heaven
you will feel it, I'll show you
Your angel from heaven
I can feel it, sent only for me
I'll be your angel from heaven
you will feel it, I'll show you
Your angel from heaven
I can feel it, sent only for me
Your angel from heaven
heaven... Angel ...
Born in Indonesia’s creative capital, Bandung, Aray Daulay hit the ground with music in his veins and has been playing professionally since the age of 19. Throwing his passion into a variety of projects and genres including an early rock and roll band called Plastik who gained some notoriety in the mid 90’s, it was with ‘Steven and the Coconut Treez’ that Aray found major recognition with the band’s release of hit single ‘Welcome to my paradise’; introducing him to the world stage with both national and international tours.
Aray’s solo career then took flight across Indonesia through his folk project Ray D’Sky and with it’s momentum, Aray began a journey of fresh projects including ‘Daddy and the Hot Tea’ (with members of Plastik) before pulling together an incredible cast of talent to support his solo sounds as ‘Aray Daulay’; creating a huge wall of sound built on years of experience.
When not touring music halls across the archipelago, this solid line up is bringing crowds to their feet most nights of the week in Bali’s biggest music venues. From rock to funk, grooves to blues, Aray Daulay and his band The Island Souls will have you moving your feet to the beat or shaking your head in disbelief.
